Songwriter Showcase The Songwriter Showcase at Saint Rocke, which is held the last Wednesday of every month. Submissions are accepted at MicDropMedia.me – the deadline to submit is two weeks before the event. It’s not a contest, so there are no entry fees or judges, it’s a curated showcase of 10-11 artists with a host. Each artist performs 2 original songs and can have any number of accompanying musicians they want. He first gained international recognition after his debut record, musicforthemorningafter, was released to critical and commercial acclaim in 2001. He is known for playing the bulk of the instruments on his records and is often credited with helping to usher in the singer/songwriter resurgence of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. He has released multiple live albums and EP’s and 10 solo full length studio albums, the most recent being “The Hard Way”, released on August 23rd, 2024. He is also a founding member of The Olms and has made two albums of duets with Scarlett Johansson. She first came into national attention with the rock band Scandal and went on to record and perform as a solo artist. His work is deeply rooted in the vast American songbook. Allen has played music professionally for the past 20 years, the last six with Davey and The Midnights. The band formed on the west-side of Los Angeles, California in 2017. The group immediately set out to establish themselves as one of the hardest working Americana bands in Southern California. They’ve toured up and down the Western US coast, the deserts of the Southwest, the Rocky Mountains, the cornfields of the Midwest, and through the musical heartland of the US South. Since 2021 the band has called Indianapolis, Indiana home. Davey and The Midnights have shared the stage with acts such as Kelsey Waldon, Dale Watson, Jesse Daniel, Nikki Lane, TK and the Holy Know-Nothings, the Cordovas, Cristina Vane, Chris Pierce, Rob Leines, and Izaak Opatz.
