The Bob Mamet Trio
The Bob Mamet Trio
Bob Mamet is an internationally acclaimed Jazz pianist and composer. His three highly successful albums for Atlantic Records garnered critical acclaim and were embraced by a wide spectrum of Jazz fans. His collaborations with artists such as Alex Acuna, Larry Carlton, Eric Marienthal, Gerald Albright, and David Benoit led Jazziz magazine to proclaim “Mamet is a brilliant composer [who gives] his players an intelligent, thoughtful, and dynamic landscape in which to work."

Bob’s albums have received extensive radio airplay worldwide. His tune Greenstreet became one of the most frequently played records on radio. Greenstreet captured the imagination of traditional and contemporary Jazz listeners alike, topping the charts for 7 weeks, and remaining to this day a fixture on the airwaves.

Impromptu is Bob’s long awaited fourth studio recording, and his first as the Bob Mamet Trio. Bob’s vibrant and lyrical brand of acoustic Jazz creates a unique signature sound that is at once classic and modern.

Released in the spring of 2010, "Impromptu" has become a nationwide success, recently reaching #2 on the Jazz charts. Jazz Times Magazine calls it "Vibrant..sparkling...swinging [and] sublime" and All About Jazz proclaims: "A tour-de-force display of musicianship...Mamet is on Fire!" The ten original compositions on the album also showcase the talents of virtuoso bassist Darek Oles, and world renowned drummer Joe La Barbera.

Darek Oles is one of the most sought after bass players on the West coast. A protégé of the great Charlie Haden, Darek has performed with Pat Metheney, Horace Silver, Terry Gibbs, Ravi Coltrane, and Joe Lavano, to name just a few. His duets with famed pianist Brad Mehldau formed the basis for his critically acclaimed debut c.d. "Like a Dream."

Joe La Barbera played drums in the legendary Bill Evans Trio, creating some of the most influential albums in Jazz history. A preeminent Jazz educator and composer, Joe performs concerts and clinics worldwide. Joe has been singled out as one of the greatest drum soloists in Jazz, but as Modern Drummer Magazine points out, it's his "musicality that lingers in the memory" long after the riffs have all been played.
